  • 1.  14.3 sepm upgrade fails on upgrade wizard

    we have duplicated this on 3 separate machines.
    we have the latest 14.2 RU2 MP1 and when we attempt to upgrade the SEPM, it completes the 1 step of the install, and once we have the option to upgrade the database wizard it disappears, and we then have to revert to the previous build.
    we have attempted to run a repair and it completes with no errors
     .

    Hi All,

    Please try the following:

    1. Disable FIPS Mode.

    \Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\bin

    run FIPSMode-Disable.bat

    2. Go to \Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\bin and right click on Upgrade.bat and run as Administrator. Let it complete.

    3. Enable FIPS Mode.

    \Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\bin

    run FIPSMode-Enable.bat

    Let us know if that resolves it for you.

    thank you for your reply.
    Nothing happens when we run the upgrade.bat.
    we have confirmed that we are in non-fips mode as per the screen shot.

    I would open a Support Ticket and collect a Full Symdiag for review.

    How to collect full support logs for Support with the SymDiag utility

    Are you seeing a large number of HS_ERR_PIDXXXX dump files in the Tomcat\bin folder?

    we did end up building a brand new server, installed 14.3 and are migrating the data

    Came across this post looking for help with a failed SEPM upgrade from 14.2 to 14.3. The symptom was that the SEPM service would not start. Used the steps provided by John_Owens and it worked like a charm. Thank you John. Hope this helps others.
