Been trying to do in-place upgrade from Win7 Pro to Win10 Pro on a machine with PGP WDE. Installed is 10.5.0 build 1180, same as on the other 2 machines that were successfully OS upgraded from 7-10 after decrypting the drives. This is a standalone machine, there is no centralized control or PGP Server involved.
This particular machine has been decrypted and in-place upgrade has failed multiple times, took out any a/v and security software and next step is to take out the PGP software. In Place upgrade via Clean boot also fails.
After decrypting bootguard is still in place, so let's remove it.
C:\Program Files\PGP Corporation\PGP Desktop\WinPE>pgpwde --enum

volume D:\ APPS is on partition 3 with offset 656689068
volume E:\ DATA is on partition 4 with offset 1404305973
volume F:\ MISC is on partition 5 with offset 2625679728
Request sent to Enumerate disks was successful
As can be seen, decryption was previously successful (no highwater mark) and no more encryption in place.
attempting to remove bootguard gives
C:\Program Files\PGP Corporation\PGP Desktop\WinPE>pgpwde --uninstrument --disk 0
Operation uninstrument disk failed:
Error code -12220: Disk already managed
Trying to uninstall PGP desktop says : You can not uninstall Symantec Encryption Desktop when drives are still encrypted. Installation Terminated"
Searching the community forums and lots of googling is not giving me much to go on. Short of a fixmbr, not really clear on next steps to get around this error.
suggestions?
