Setting child jobs of a box to inactive

If a box job has 10 jobs in the ACTIVE state, and one of those jobs needs to be changed to INACTIVE, should the box job first be placed on HOLD to prevent successor dependencies from triggering, or is it acceptable to change the job directly to INACTIVE ?
(I understand that successor will only trigger if predecessor is set to success and not inactive, but just for being safe)

Nikhil,

A box with jobs in ACTIVATED (AC) state means it is in RU state.  The box cannot be placed ON_HOLD in that state.  As for changing an AC job to IN, it can be done directly.  Note that the successors if this job will then remain in AC state and the box remains in RU state unless further action taken.

Thanks.
