Broadcom Customer Care directed me to this community because I am looking for the correct official Broadcom/VMware contact regarding a licensing/developer question.
I am an individual VMware Workstation Pro user developing an independent software application that uses the VMCI/vSockets API. I specifically need written clarification regarding vmci_sockets.h.
I would like to know:
- Whether an independently developed application may use the VMCI/vSockets API with VMware Workstation Pro.
- Whether
vmci_sockets.h may be included or redistributed with that application.
- Whether any attribution, redistribution, SDK, or licensing requirements apply if the application is distributed commercially in the future.
- Whether there is an official license document or agreement governing this API/header.
I am not asking to redistribute VMware Workstation itself or claim ownership of VMware/Broadcom technology. I am simply trying to identify the correct official channel or documentation so that any future distribution of my own application remains compliant.
The VMware Workstation community itself is currently “View Only” for my account, so Customer Care directed me here.
Could someone please direct me to the appropriate official Broadcom/VMware licensing, legal, SDK, product, or developer-relations contact?
