It would be great to have a check box or raw configure to enable or disable auditing of the Monitoring Configuration Service as well as filtering for errors, communication errors, successful, pending, deploying, etc.  We found that the SSRV2AuditTrail tables were out of control and have had to do special maintenance on them to get to a more acceptable size that the garbage collection settings can keep up with.

The truncate is very quick even if your table is huge so I didn't turn anything off, but if it makes you feel comfortable then stop the mon_config_service probe.

Hi Rowan,

What would be the steps to do this? What probes control the MCS which I would 1st disable, then in SQL Mgt Studio trunc SSRV2AuditTrail

Then start up those probes.

Thanks.

You can truncate the table if you don't need the audit data.

Any update on this. I just checked today and our largest UIM DB table is the

table_name row_count col_count data_size
SSRV2AuditTrail 46704776 8 24,085,880 KB

Which is crazy when we don't use the MCS feature and this is a huge waste of space. 25GB!!

What did folks to do to get rid of this or clean this up?

we are taking this valuable idea for grooming for further prioritization. I shall post back in case it makes to the final backlog.
