!

Our production control team frequently accepts incoming requests to perform actions on lists of jobs. The quickest method, with least clicks, is to use QVIEW to take action on a job, or on a set of jobs that have similar names because it allows wild cards. You can search for the jobs, click "Select All" and take action on all jobs at once.

When jobs do not have similar names, it is necessary to open the server view, and cut and paste a comma-delimited list of job names in the search field. Once the list of jobs are displayed there is no option to take action on all of them. A click on the first job in the list and a CTRL+click on the last job, then a right click to get the action menu is required. Even after those steps, the job name search field is limited to 255 characters, which is simply too short for our production control team's daily function. I'll open a separate enhancement request for that field to be extended. This request is strictly to allow QVIEW to accept multiple job names similar to the server view, but with an adequate character limit to match the 11.3 WCC JSC search field would be sufficient.

Currently planned for WCC 11.4 SP4 maintenance.

I totally agree with you daddepalli. This is an example where functionality present in 11.3 WCC is now lost with the merging of the job status console and monitor views. CA suggested I open this idea, so that's why I'm here. The 11.3 WCC JSC server filter could be temporarily updated to include a long list of job names. I haven't figured out the limit, but I was easily able to paste 40 comma-delimited job names in there for a total of 1391 characters.

agreed. i tried and even had an idea top have a hybrid/DAR approach. no go.

i am not voting this down. i just want caveats and safeguards in place

with some things. otherwise we will have another sendevent GRPAPP on our

hands that we have to disable before mistakes are made.

just my 3 cents..

I think the idea is useful and I have voted up…but as usual you are at the mercy of everyone who has their own ideas on how the product should be…

That the biggest drawback of using this community approach for ideas in my opinion…we cant even make a strong case to CA anymore

Thanks for your opinion, however when you are a production control operator and need to take action on long lists of jobs (which they have been performing for years with the JSC filter) there’s just not enough time to do these individually.

I know, it’s the old time vs. money - but sometimes with specific procedures and checks in place it can be very useful.

I need votes in order to get this idea promoted. Is there no one else that could use the ability to search for multiple unrelated job names in QVIEW?

Thanks,

Lisa

taking action on multiple jobs, is very dangerous, and rife with issues.

as many times as this is requested. I lost track of the issues such

actions cause.
