In today's Service Desk environment there are little to no options available to easily customize the Area/Category tree presented to users when they create a ticket. As an example we would like to have descriptions on top-level areas, yet not allow them to be selectable, as described the referenced discussion: Can an Area/Category have a Description and remain unselectable?
Other ideas might include:
- adding images or text to further assist users, such as a header with pertinent information
- the ability to expand/collapse all areas
- formatting options to improve readability/usability
