RESTORE ACTION

Quick question.  i archived an element, so that I could change the Delta Format and now I'm trying to restore it.  My Restore looks like this:

RESTORE ELEMENT 'ABC'                  
  FROM FILE ARCHIVE                          
        ENVIRONMENT 'PROD'               
        SYSTEM 'TEST'                      
        SUBSYSTEM 'TEST'                     
        TYPE 'C'                         
        STAGE NUMBER 2                      
  TO    ENVIRONMENT 'PROD'               
        SYSTEM 'TEST'                      
        SUBSYSTEM 'TEST'                     
        TYPE 'C'                         
        STAGE NUMBER 2                      
  OPTIONS CCID 'ADMIN' COMMENTS 'TESTING' .

I keep getting the following error:

SMGR143E  HISTORY OPTION NOT AVAILABLE FOR FULL IMAGE DELTA

Anyone know where the History option could be coming from?  Is it some kind of default somewhere?

Hi Felicity,
I did a quick search to see if I could find any more history on this question, but it appears to be fresh.  I'd probably like to have seen more details on what you were changing with the type definition, the before and after state - but I presume the new type definition is full image delta, rather than the old?  I'd also ask; how was the 'backup' made - an UNLOAD or ARCHIVE or TRANSFER to archive...

If you don't want/need the history though - you could try a TRANSFER from archive, rather than a RESTORE.  You get a lot more options on a transfer and it should be able to read any transfer/unload/archive format.  If you wanted to keep some history, then maybe Transferring one level at a time starting with the oldest version you want to keep (probably 0100) to rebuild the history.

The ARCHIVE and RESTORE Actions always include history.. That's their purpose. To convert from ??? to Full-Image delta I suggest reading the section:

How to Convert a Forward/Reverse Delta to a Full-Image Delta

Use to be an appendix in the Admin guide. Now it's under "administering".

If the information provided therein doesn't help and you want to create full image change history for each vv.ll of the element you are trying to convert, you'll have to follow Eoin's suggestion of transferring each level from 01.00 to its current level individually.
