Let's Make a Bet

I've got a friendly wager going with my partner in crime, Su Brude. I bet Su that we can increase CA Gen Community membership to 120, by 2020.  If I'm wrong, I have to wear this crazy chicken headband around the office for a week! If I'm right, Su has to wear a flying pig hat for a week!

Hi Kim,

While you would absolutely like to avoid humiliation, so I will try my best to see if I can find any Genners (a rare species !) in my orbit. Having said that, from my experience I can see Gen is dying slowly but surely. Less than 100 members on this forum itself is an indication. I myself moved away (actually forced to) from Gen after working in that space for more than 18 years. There is hardly any Gen work around at the moment and as far as I know it's only the old customers who are stuck with Gen and they are also trying to move away from that. Reasons could be many....expensive, marketing, better featured/priced alternatives etc.

On a lighter node, I look forward to you / Su (depending on the winner) sharing your photos on this forum in that crazy chicken headband / flying pig !  :))

You are right that Gen usage has decreased, which is why I'm glad Broadcom acquired CA and is taking a different approach with Gen. A lot of businesses have critical processes running on Gen. Rather than forcing them to make a risky move off Gen, Broadcom wants to invest in Gen to make it work in modern dev ops! That's why we're updating our certifications, connecting with our partners, researching restful APIs and other solutions to use modern tools with Gen. Now that we have a vision, we just have to mitigate the bumps that come with any acquisition, like changing tools! Unfortunately we lost a lot community members when we switched platforms. I hope we get them back soon because we'll be sharing lots of news on this forum and we're thirsty for customer feedback. 

And if all else fails, at least I'll get to see Su in this big, pink, pig hat! LOL!

Congratulations, @Su Brude! You have avoided wearing the pig hat...this time. My new year's resolution is to find another challenge that is sure to get you in that pig hat, preferably at an important meeting :p

Looks like I'll be wearing this chicken headband at work for the next 5 business days. Ah well. On the bright side, for you hockey fans, the Dallas Stars won an exciting victory in today's Winter Classic game. I loved being there to see it!

Day 1 with the chicken headband. I've gotten some "Are you still celebrating the new year?" comments. Some grins and giggles when I explain that I lost a bet. Some looks of relief that I lost a bet ( and didn't just think this went well with my outfit). Mostly I forget I'm wearing it. I'm just glad I didn't forget my computer password after such a long break!

I tried to login and change mySupport Access Informatin from Standard to Partner. I had to enter a Partner Registration ID, but couldn't.

Am I already entered in your system as a partner or is it too  early yet?

It took 5 months longer than I'd hoped, but we officially met that goal of 120 users! 

I'm so glad to see our CA Gen EDGE Community being restored. We had excellent attendance at our last roadmap webinar (131). I see more posts from CA Gen users (not just Broadcom-ers like me). We're getting more Ideations and votes, and that feedback is being talked about in our PI planning, roadmap discussions, and architecture analysis meetings.
