The Dynamic User Application Menu is determined by the External Security Management (ESM) such as ACF2, Top Secret or RACF, based on access to profiles when the dynamic user logs onto the system.
Information for static users is maintained in two locations for each user - ESM for full credentials verification and TPX for applications. Static user profiles are obtained from VSAM record(s) in TPX to determine which applications are available to a given user.
When you remove a static user from the system, the change must be made in the ESM and the TPX environments, whereas when you remove a dynamic user, only the ESM environment must be changed.
The benefits of using dynamic users instead of static users are:
- There is no need to set up a new user on TPX before they log on for the first time.
- If you change profiles that are dynamically assigned to users, all dynamic users pick up the change because TPX dynamically determines profiles at each logon.
