  • 1.  Create runtimes with MSM?

    Posted Feb 25, 2021 12:07 PM
I want to create runtime datasets from the targets but I don't want to create a giant copy job.  I was told that CA MSM can do this via deployment.  This is a stand alone system so there is not a need for a remote connection etc.  Could someone direct me to how to achieve this?

    Hi Ronald,

As Elliot mentioned you can check the manual...
You need to do some actions before you can start a deployment from your CSI..
First create a System, which can be the same as your current lpar..
Second you can specify products, but if you start from a CSI, via the SMPE Environment tab, you already are using a product list, and during the deployment you can create a methodology..
In the methodology you can specify the new dataset names...

This is all mentioned in the chapter Elliot mentioned..
If you have further questions, or any problems creating a deployment..

    Contact us, Broadcom mainframe support..
    Success with working with CSM..
    Best regards

Thanks for your response.  I have read the doc.  The problem I have is that any deployment method I choose wants to validate the system via CCI SYSID.  I don't have CCI running on this system since it's not needed.  I'm not sure why I have to create a connection to a system since I'm doing a local deploy.

    Hi Ronald,
It's indeed needed to have CCI running for the SDS and SCS service, even if it's for a local deployment..

    Best regards
