CA 7® Zowe Conformance with API mediation layer
Zowe is a new open source software framework that provides solutions to allow development and operations teams to securely manage, control, script and develop on the Mainframe like any other cloud platform. Zowe is the first open source project based on z/OS. The Zowe Conformance Program aims to give users the confidence that when they use a product, app, or distribution that leverages Zowe they can expect a high level of common functionality, interoperability and user experience. CA Workload Automation CA 7® is now conformant with Zowe API mediation layer and Command Line Interface.
What is the Zowe API Mediation layer?
The API Mediation Layer (API ML) provides a single point of access for Mainframe service REST APIs. The layer offers enterprise cloud-like features such as high-availability, scalability, dynamic API discovery, consistent security, a single sign-on experience, and documentation. API ML facilitates secure communication across loosely coupled microservices through the API Gateway. The CA 7 REST API onboarding will make the service discoverable by the API ML Discovery Service, enable routing through the API Gateway, and make the service information and API documentation available through the API Catalog.
What other benefits does CA 7 offer with Zowe integration?
Zowe authenticates CA 7 REST API services with a PassTicket. PassTicket is usually a one-time only password substitute. Instead of exchanging user credentials on the network multiple times, now CA 7 can authenticate with a pass ticket encryption per every session. PassTicket usage typically requires you to have a single sign-on software product such as the Broadcom Single Sign-on Option or IBM's Network Security Program that generates the PassTicket.
