    Hello IDMS Community!

Have you ever wanted to extract and load data easily to and from a sequential file?  The CA IDMS Product Team is working on two new batch utilities to be able to Extract and Load Network databases using flat files.  The utilities can be used as part of a broader ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Solution, where you can create production-copy databases for test purposes.  With the data extracted to the sequential file, you can then use a data masking tool (such as CA Test Data Manager) to transform that data and hide sensitive or personal identifiable information.

    • The EXTRACT NETWORK utility will produce three output files; the extracted data file, copybook file which describes your data, and the control file, which is used for the Load process.
    • The LOAD NETWORK utility will read in the extracted data file (you may have masked or transformed the data) and the control file to load/create a new CA IDMS database, maintaining proper pointers and relationships.

We are looking for users to validate and test the utilities before we make them GA!  Please reach out to me at Nakesha.Newbury@broadcom.com if you'd be willing to try these out and provide feedback.  Thank you!
