CA Database Management Solutions for DB2 for z/OS 20.0 Announcement: Transition to Continuous Delivery

Dear CA Database Management Solutions for Db2 for z/OS Customers,

As part of our ongoing commitment to customer success, we regularly release updated versions of our products. We are pleased to confirm that CA Database Management Solutions for Db2 for z/OS Version 20.0 has transitioned from an Incremental Release model to one providing Continuous Delivery of features and maintenance. Please review Broadcom Continuous Delivery Strategy for additional details.

In response to feedback received that the Incremental Release model presented challenges for some of our customers, we have implemented a Continuous Delivery model. This model reduces PTF dependencies and provides customers greater flexibility in choosing new features and maintenance to introduce into their CA Database Management Solutions for Db2 for z/OS environment.

    • Customers currently running CA Database Management Solutions for Db2 for z/OS Version 20.0 are already actively using the Continuous Delivery model as it was initially introduced last year following the release of Increment 8 (IR8). No additional action is necessary as a result of this announcement.

    • Customers currently running CA Database Management Solutions for Db2 for z/OS Version 19.0 with plans to upgrade to Version 20.0 will benefit from an updated PAX file that has been refreshed to include all maintenance published to date.
      • NOTE: Customers who previously downloaded the 20.0 PAX file in preparation for future installation are encouraged to download the refreshed PAX to minimize the amount of additional maintenance to be applied during installation.
      • REMINDER: Version 19.0 of the CA Database Management Solutions for Db2 for z/OS will go out of support on September 30, 2020. Customers not currently on Version 20.0 should make upgrade plans accordingly.

Looking forward, the next phase of our Continuous Delivery model will support new features being released disabled when practical, and provide customers a mechanism to activate individual features as they choose. This will provide a highly granular level of control, ensuring stability while allowing customers to benefit from new features at their desired pace. See the CA Database Management Solutions for Db2 for z/OS documentation for detailed information about this release including enhancements and Db2 version support (Release Notes).
