We created a compare strategy between two instances of the same table.  The target table space has a 4K bufferpool and the table has a column defined as VARCHAR(80). The source table space has a 32K bufferpool and the table has the same column defined as VARCHAR(4000).  When comparing at the table level, the strategy generated only the ALTER TABLE ALTER COLUMN statement. Only when the compare was done at the table space level did the strategy generated the DROP/CREATE DDL.  Would it be possible for the compare/analysis to kick out an error or a message to indicate that the ALTER TABLE statement by itself may not run because the change affected the page size?

    Hi enor.chan,

Thank you for pointing out this problem.  This definitely shows a difference in behavior between our using a Compare strategy and using the Alter Panels to modify the Target column length.  When using the panels you will get an error message RO269E.  We should issue something similar for the Compare strategy and not end with RC=0.

We are looking into a solution.
