CA DB2 Performance Tools support for the DB2 Accelerator on 18.0

    A number of the CA DB2 Tools will be providing support for the DB2 Accelerator in the 18.0 release.

     

    CA SYSVIEW for DB2 (formerly known as CA Insight DPM)

    CA SYSVIEW for DB2 builds on the support already present in the 17.0 release which provided initial Accelerator support for:

    1. New Accounting data for thread history and batch reporting.
    2. New Statistics data for real time, online history and batch reporting.  Support for new DSNZPARM values and IFCID 378/379.

    In 18.0, additional functionality will be added in support of:

    1. Accelerator eligibility in accounting data in real-time, history and batch

    2. Accelerator accounting data for active threads

    3. New DSNZPARMs for accelerator modeling status

    4. New Insight DB2 Accelerator Archive tables

    5. Updated Explain reporting

    6. Extended Snap-Shot reporting to include overall Accelerator Utilization

     

    CA Detector

    Additional metrics are provided to identify SQL activity on the Accelerator in the following displays:

    1. Package/DBRM Summary
    2. SQL Statement Summary and History
    3. Plan Program
    4. Plan SQL
    5. Dynamic SQL Summary
    6. Plan Summary and Detail

    CA Thread Terminator

    Additional metrics are provided to identify active threads SQL using the Accelerator:

    1. Active Threads Display will indicate when a thread is executing on the Accelerator
    2. Thread Distributed Display reports Accelerator metrics and also identifies the location as being an Accelerator
    3. SQL Call Display indicates when a statement is executing on the Accelerator

    CA Plan Analyzer

    Support is provided as follows:

    1. BIND/REBIND cards for packages
    2. ALTER cards for SQL Scalar Functions and Native Stored Procedures
    3. Access Path reporting identifies Accelerator access
    4. Support for DB2 ACCEL profiles which verify that queries meeting specified cost thresholds process on the Accelerator
