Hello -
While testing the MICS / SMF DIRECTOR processing interface with a large-volume input stream of DB2 SMF 101 records, it became evident that there is no current SAS DATA step programming method to override the external input data allocation BUFNO setting (SAS hard-default is BUFNO=5, unless JCL DD or SAS FILENAME statement used -- not applicable here). Ideally this would be a new CONFIG/OPTIONS FILEBUFNO=nn setting and also a new INFILE statement keyword FILEBUFNO.
SAS Tech Support confirmed the current SAS 9.4 behavior and recommended creating a SAS COMMUNITY idea to promote the enhancement opportunity with SAS Base, DATA step processing.
Please consider voting up this enhancement on the SAS.COM website, although you must also be a registered SAS COMMUNITY member (free of charge!)
Add FILEBUFNO option for optimizing external input performance
Thank you,
