Hello fellow Dispatch users and community members,

If you've ever encountered a database file full situation in CA Dispatch, the possibility exists that you may have to follow the documented procedures for increasing the size of one or more of your IDMS database files.

Indicators that a database file is full or very close to being full are error messages that specifically state "*** file full" or any of the various 'DCxxxxxx' messages that may be received that specifically include "ERROR STATUS = 1211" (as outlined on recently published knowledge article, Document ID: TEC1601295).

If you encounter one of these messages and have followed the appropriate courses of action to verify that you are running regular batch maintenance against your database files and manually deleting old or unwanted records to free up space, but your DSEXSTAT output is still showing the file/area with a high percentage of utilization (consistently over 70% is considered high), then you are a prime candidate for having to increase the size of a database file.

In the event that you do have to increase the size of a database file, I would urge you to review another recently published knowledge article, Document ID: TEC1922327. Use of this particular knowledge article will help you avoid some of the common mistakes that are made when performing the database size migration process.

I hope you find the information in these articles helpful. Until next time, take care!
