  • 1.  information from command CREVIEW

    Posted Jun 05, 2020 05:12 PM
    Hello Colleagues.

    Looking for the following info:

    We are working with the information from the CREVIEW command but it only shows us the last 24 hours, how can we could obtain  the same format  information from a week ago??
    We need the historical information of the total accumulated transactions per minute, not disaggregated by transaction.

    Many thanks in advance.
    Fernando

    Hi Fernando,

    For the CICS transaction information you are looking for, did you check the sample reports we deliver in the CA Sysview CNM4RSAM dataset.
    There are over 30 sample reports delivered with CA Sysview and a short description of them is in the manual, see this page :

    https://techdocs.broadcom.com/content/broadcom/techdocs/us/en/ca-mainframe-software/performance-and-storage/ca-sysview-performance-management/16-0/reporting/using-ca-explore-report-writer/sample-reports/cics-sample-reports.html

    Hello Hennie
    I've reviewed the examples in CNM4RSAm, but they do not provide the information that our customer requires, is there other alternative to get this information?
    Best regards.

    Hi Fernando,
    You can write your own report with the CA Sysview report writer..
    What information would you like to see..
    If i check the CREVIEW displays transaction usage and data collection overhead per interval..
    Please let us know what you finally want to see in the report and we possibly can provide you information on what fields to use.
    Regards
    Hennie Hermans

    Hello Hennie

    The client gives us CREVIEW as an example, but it only shows the last 24 hours, but he needs to see beyond that.

    Then the client is looking for is a report with total number of transactions executed in 1 minute intervals beyond 24 hours.

    it would be very useful if you could give us the possibility of a report.

    Many thanks in advance
    Fernando

    Fernando,
    Historical transaction counts for the region are also available in the CSYSDATA records that are cut on an interval, as well as the CTRANSUM records cut on an interval (the tranid '*' record in CTRANSUM would represent all transactions for the interval).  CSCHEDUL entries control these intervals; both of them default to 15 minutes.

    You can also get this info by reporting on the CTRANLOG detail records.  It sounds like the sample in CNM4RSAM(CICS001) is basically what you want.  Here is a slightly modified version of CICS001, adding the DATETIME parm on TAB and the EACH 1 MINUTE statement.  It reads records from the CTRANLOG log stream, but you could also point SMFIN to a data set containing SMF records extracted from MANx or SMF log stream.  Please experiment.

    //jobcard
    // SET SMFIN=sysview.CICSLOGR.TRAN
    //REPORT EXEC PGM=XPFRMAIN,REGION=0M
    //STEPLIB DD DISP=SHR,DSN=.....CNM4BLOD
    //ERPTPRM DD DISP=SHR,DSN=.....CNM4RSAM
    //SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=*
    //SYSUDUMP DD SYSOUT=*
    //*-----------------------------------------------------------
    //* Example DD statement to read from log stream
    //*-----------------------------------------------------------
    //TAPSMF DD DISP=SHR,DSN=&SMFIN,
    // SUBSYS=(LOGR,GSVXLGEX,
    // 'FROM=OLDEST,TO=YOUNGEST',
    // 'STATS,NORDW'),
    // DCB=(DSORG=PS,RECFM=VB,LRECL=32756,BLKSIZE=32760)
    //SYSIN DD *
    TITLE1 CICS TRANSACTION COUNTS BY MINUTE
    *OPTION(SUMMARY=NO)
    *SELECT JOBNAME(CICSPROD)
    TAB DATETIME JOBNAME TRAN USE AND,
    TRAN USE RATE HDR2(RATE) AND,
    TRAN LIFE AND,
    TRAN CPUTIME
    EACH 1 MINUTE
    END
    RUN
