  • 1.  Is anyone using URI-REUSE and what should I be aware of before turning it on for a table already over 3G URI?

    Posted Jul 05, 2018 11:16 AM

It has taken this table 10 years to get the URI count up to this point, but we really cannot afford to reload it, so any insights would be helpful

    Thank you.

    Hi Steve,

You nee to be aware of 15.1 APAR #: RO98364 Title: URI REUSE NOT STARTING OR MUF ABORTS WITH S0C4 IN DBDSMPR.

And possibly 15.1 APAR #: RO98204 Title: DDBDMLM DOES NOT ENFORCE UNIQUE HSD ROW  which resolved some case like "URI-REUSE value not set on 3002 card by DDBTGLM due to problem on HSD "

    Best regards,

    JD

    JD,

We are still on 15.0 on all but our sandbox LPAR test environment, but thank you for the warnings.

I simply update the dictionary/CXX for the table in question, and the system automatically begins keeping track of this?

    Steve,

All URI-REUSE considerations are documented below:

    https://docops.ca.com/ca-datacom/15-0/en/release-notes-and-product-information/ca-datacom-features/new-and-enhanced-features-for-15-0#NewandEnhancedFeaturesfor15.0-URIReuse

Note: Index size and fallback considerations.

There is no equivalent in 15.0 for DB 15.1 RO98364.

The equivalent of DD 15.1 RO98204 is DD 15.0 RO97808 (it affects module DDBDMPR).

There are the two 15.x APARs related to URI-REUSE I am aware of.
