    Hi All,

ESP Application dataset was extended 2 weeks back and some of the applications completion status were not getting reflected which has been built before that.

We have a situation, Application XXXX is scheduled to build every day at 12.15 pm CT and one of the task will post the yesterday schedule as complete by using AJ command .After extending the Application dataset, getting the ESP528E  error  stating 'APPL ALREADY MARKED COMPLETE'

When I give a LAP command ,getting the below message, though the application completed fine on October 12th .

    ,APPL XXXX  GEN 7168 PURGED
    , CREATED AT 12.15 ON FRIDAY OCTOBER 11TH, 2019
    ,
Application dataset was extended on Oct 13 12.30 am. Is there any command to get rid of the application XXXXX .7168 having status as PURGED

    Hi,
I assume that the CYBESUT3 utility was used to extend the APPLFILE.  Let me know if this is not the case.  I think we need to look at the PURGED status.

There are commands to purge completed appls and utilities to do some cleanup.
But before just randomly issuing commands I think it might be best to open a case with support to diagnose the issue.  There may have been issues when the APPLFILE was extended. Maybe the output from the job is still available.
It would also be interesting to see all the output from the LAP command for this appl.

    NOTE:
I will say that with a larger APPLFILE the slots will not get re-used as frequently. They will stay available until needed for another application.

    Hi,
I see multiple generations in PURGED and INVALID states.  I suggest opening a ticket with support.

I see that yesterdays gen 7184 is complete. I am not sure if you got the 528E error message today.   This may be a separate issue from the 7168 from October 11 that you mentioned earlier.

My z O/S support opened a case for it. I have manually posted the yesterday generation since we got 528E today

    Hi,
Don you prev mentioned - "There are commands to purge completed appls and utilities to do some cleanup",
As Push replied earlier our zOS team has opened a case to diagnose the possible Oct 11 issue with extending APPLFILE.
However for now, we are receiving multiple incidents for the generation that has in fact ended and cannot be seen on CSF and LAP shows status=Purged.
The event triggers and a TASK attempts to post the "oldest" generation of another task.  ESP thinks generation 7168 is the oldest, instead of the previous day's generation.
What commands can we try to get rid of this gen?  We have had this problem on 2 other schedules in past weeks and need to know how to get rid of it.
    APPL COMPAKDG GEN 7168 PURGED

    We have tried ...

    AJ ALL RELEASE APPL(COMPAKDG.7168)

    AJ ALL TERMINATE APPL(COMPAKDG.7168)
    aj all COMPLETE appl(COMPAKDG.7168)

    aj all appl(COMPAKDG.7168) TERMINATE

    aj all appl(COMPAKDG.7168) RELEASE

and ESP responds with APPL ALREADY MARKED COMP

A little hesitant to try PURGAPPL or PURGSCHF without direction.

    Hi Ronda,
I sent you a note. When you have a minute give me a call.
I don't think there is no problem that the 7168 generation still exists on the APPLFILE. Now that the applfile is larger, APPLS will remain in the applfile for a longer period.  We need to look at the command that is being done to complete yesterday's APPL

It is acting like it may be using the keyword. COMPLETE "OLDEST".  I think completing yesterday's generation would be something like complete APPL(COMPAKDG.-1) COMPLETE. If this is issued it will try to complete yesterday's generation.

Since generation 7168 is complete it will put out the 528E error message.
