"Edit" JCL prior to submission, more specifically, replace a variable in a DSN for example

Like appending the date to the end of the file name?

    Karen,

Can you expand on your post. What product and step or function are you referring to?

    Thanks,

I am new to this,  how do I update my question?

I am asking about mainframe CA7,  is there a way for ca7 to add the date to a dsn name for a job that runs through ca7?

Ken answered before I could ...but I was going to inquire if the use of system symbolics would fit your need.

    Karen, Ken,

I have moved this conversation to the workload automation community. Here it should get the attention of members with more direct knowledge in the topic area.

    Thank you,

Thank you both very much.  I went back to the person who wanted me to ask this question to see why they need this done through ca7 since the option is in zos already
