  • 1.  An intelligent way control the size of XCOM history file?

    Posted Apr 14, 2016 12:57 AM

    Hi all

Is there a way to control the size of XCOM history file that is more intelligent than bringing the server down, running XCOMUTIL in batch, and then bringing it up, which is what we do now? Bringing the server down becomes a burden if we want to provide 7x24 service.

We do not have DB2, so using ODBC for history records is not an option. We have Software AG Adabas, though.

    Thanks for reading, Yohai

    Hi Yohai,

Thanks for reaching out to us via the community!

The only way to maintain the XCOMHIST file is by stopping the XCOM task and running the XCOMUTIL job as you have been doing. The reason for stopping the server is to prevent any corruption to the file while running the XCOMUTIL. Using a DB2 database would have been the option in this case, but I understand that is not possible for you.

    Yohai,

Did Beverly's suggestion help you? Can you come back and let us know?

    Hello Lenn, Kathy and Beverly,

I apologize for not responding earlier,  thanks for the reminder.

If you should read my initial note, you would realize that Beverly's suggestion resonates what we are already doing. Hence, it only helps to reassure us that there is no other way to meet that challenge. However, it would be more helpful if you developed some mechanism that goes over the history file and delete old records while XCOM server is still running. I guess I don't need to elaboarate here about the drawbacks of bringing the server down and up.

    Regards, Yohai

    Yohai,

Product management accepts all enhancement requests right here in the community as ideas. I'd invite you to make your suggestion that way so the product team sees it and so that other customers can vote and comment on it.
