  • 1.  InterTest 8.5 and COBOL 5?

    Posted May 04, 2015 04:47 PM

Has anyone tried using InterTest (or InterTest CICS) 8.5 with COBOL 5.1 or 5.2?  It appears that there are some fixes out there for 8.5 listed under COBOL 5.1, but nothing for COBOL 5.2.  I'm currently hitting the issue described in RO73189 with COBOL 5.2, so it's likely the 5.1 fixes are still required for 5.2

I've also seen Add COBOL 5.1 ARCH(10) support in Intertest.  Since NOARCH isn't an option, I'm not sure what to choose now.  Are there any other COBOL 5 specific options I should be wary of when running InterTest 8.5?  Any documentation on this?

Support for COBOL 5.2 is being addressed in the 9.1 releases for InterTest Batch, InterTest CICS, SymDump Batch, and SymDump CICS in the current Sprint.  This support is expected to be available by the end of June, 2015.

Is InterTest 8.5 supported with COBOL 5.2?

What options are supported for InterTest 8.5 and COBOL 5.1?  What option should be specified instead of ARCH(10)?

InterTest Batch and CICS  8.5 do not support COBOL 5.2.   Once the COBOL 5.2 support is completed in 9.1, we will determine the size of the effort and decide if support for COBOL 5.2 will be added to 8.5.

We have known problems for COBOL 5.1 with ARCH(10)  for both InterTest Batch and CICS 8.5 which we have addressed in 9.1 and an  APAR should be available shortly.  For InterTest Batch and CICS 8.5 to be safe we recommend using ARCH(6), but we have no known problems with ARCH levels lower than 10.

So InterTest 8.5 is supported with COBOL 5.1, provided the current handful of fixes and ARCH(6)?

That is correct Kevin.  COBOL 5.1 is supported for both InterTest Batch and InterTest CICS providing appropriate COBOL 5.1 PTF's are applied  and you use ARCH(6) compile option.
