How do I go about retrieving archived elements?  I've had a request to produce a list of archived elements from two years ago.  I happened to find a package execution report with the archive packages listed.  The user will want to review the code in some of the elements, so how do I retrieve them and put them back into Endevor?  The admin I took over for did not cover this and I have no clue as to how to do it.  Any assistance would be appreciated.  Thanks.

The archive packages reports will show the elements and version/level numbers but won't have the actual code. However, with the element name and version/level number, you could do a retrieve of the code or run Print element action to the source in a listing if the elements are still on Endevor.

If the elements have actually been archived, you can run a Restore or a Transfer to put the code back into Endevor but you'll need to have the archive file.

The restore process is what I don’t have.  Could you enlighten me as to how to do that please?

TRANSFER and RESTORE are described in the ENDEVOR documentation, probably together with the other SCL actions such as ADD and DELETE.

Here is an example of the SCL we use for restores.  You can find “RESTORE” in the manual for full syntax.

    SET OPTIONS CCID 'W12345'

                COMMENT "ELEMENT RESTORE"

                BYPASS GENERATE PROCESSOR

                WITH HISTORY.

    SET FROM FILE ARCHIVE

             ENVIRONMENT PROD

             SYSTEM      QATESTER

             SUBSYSTEM   COMMON

             TYPE        COBOL

             STAGE NUM   2.

    SET TO   ENVIRONMENT TEST

             SYSTEM      QATESTER

             SUBSYSTEM   COMMON

             TYPE        COBOL

             STAGE NUM   1.

    RESTORE ELEMENT 'ABC123'.

Thanks.  I’m looking for the panel page to restore one.  I tried using the transfer panel, however it’s expecting the element to already exist.  Is there by chance a panel that I don’t have?  I don’t see how I can enter in an element that is no longer ‘cataloged’ in Endevor.  These are the options that I have:

The RESTORE is not an option in the Endevor panels.  You’d just create the SCL then submit via batch.
