    hi Team,

Are there testing procedures to test the CA Allocate product in general and not in terms of storage perspective.

    Thanks,

    Rohith

    Hello Rohith,

Unfortunately not yet. You can validate the ASR rules by using the sample JCL located here: CCTVJCL(TESTASRS).

This is a good request. I will make sure the product owner to be aware of it.

Now as a circumvention, you can test, based on a filter with your userid, any specific rule change. This impacts only you and not the production.

As an example, if you code such rule in VDSPROG (replace "userid" by your userid) :

IF &USER = 'userid' THEN DO

        COPYBOOK 'userid'

      END

This permits to enter to your test environment and perform all the tests validation you would like. Of course the COPYBOOK member is the place you write your own ASR test code.

    Hi Pierre,

    Thanks for the Information.

One more thing, Including ca allocate there are other storage products like ca1 tape management, ca vantange, ca disk, ca copycat. As sys progs there will be need to roll out the tested new maintenance to other set(production) libraries. When testing the new maintenance the storage team would be involved and they would test it from their end. But when promoting to other set of libraries as storage team would not be involved, we need to have few testing procedures to test the product and confirm our roll out to other set is fine.

It would be helpful if I could get the general testing procedures for these products maintained in our environment.

    Thanks Again.

    Hi Rohith,

For CA1 R14 or R12.6, the IVP test job is located into CTAPJCL(TMSIVP). You can customize it to validate the labels you use.

For CA Vantage, there is no validation process. Basically, if it starts without abend or error messages, you are good. The second point to check, is if you can logon to the Gui (Windows client) or WebUI (Browser interface) and get data.

This product has an MSGE associated to its STC which contains all error messages traces. If nothing special there then the product works fine.

For CA Disk, you have a complete IVP set available into the CCUWJCL. The members all starts with IVP. Running it from 01 to 10 will do a complete product check and validation on basic functrion.

For CA Copycat, there is no validation process. Now you can create one based on what process you often use.

Let me know if you need anything else.

    Best regards,

    Pierre
