 How to track package resets?

Now that we are using promotion packages we have a need to sometimes manually reset and modify some of the previously executed packages (in the past when there was no saved package history we would not allow executed packages to be reset). We want to generate a report of the promotion package resets (who and when) similar to a report of program element deletions (we retain program element deletion information read from SMF records). Can  anyone provide an example of a program that does this?

Hi Mathew

I can see two options that you may want to explore and see if one of them suit your needs:

1) Enabling End-to-End Logging. See the documentation for more details:
https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/ca-mainframe-software/devops/ca-endevor-software-change-manager/18-1/installing/activity-logging-for-webhook-support.html

2) Writing your own exit-7. More details here:
https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/ca-mainframe-software/devops/ca-endevor-software-change-manager/18-1/reference/api-and-user-exits-reference/exits-reference/using-package-exits.html

Hope this helps

Are there any plans to deliver this functionality in smf instead of writing the info to a uss file?

Hi John,

No plans at the moment but we have an Ideation open for Package SMF logging here:  https://community.broadcom.com/participate/ideation-home/viewidea?IdeationKey=0487cba3-eb49-427e-a5d0-935922f7f8a2

We're going to soon be looking at our next top Ideations soon after we complete the CONMOVE utility.  I would invite the community to vote on this Idea if they would like to see this in the next round of Ideations we pull in.
