Unable to access the communities after Alias/Screen Name update

Error

"An error occurred while trying to authenticate through SSO (Single Sign-On)"

 

 

Problem
Unable to access the communities after updating my Alias/Screen Name" through  "My Profile/Basic tab

 

Resolution
Please reactivate your existing password using the Forgot Password link, then clear your cache history and try to access the communities on a new browser window. If this does not resolve the problem try the following additional step, remove the cookie named saml_request_id for the host comm.support.ca.com..

Hahah, this is hilarious. Somehow the name John_Smith got saved as my screen name, even though I never clicked Save while that text was in the field. I just put the text in this field momentarily to capture the screenshot here: How to change your screen name.

For me, merely resetting my password and clearing the browser cache did not resolve the problem.

I resolved the problem by performing one additional step: I removed the cookie named saml_request_id for the host comm.support.ca.com.
