  • 1.  Unable to configure a Private LAN on my vmware

Hello guys, please who can support/assist me in resolving my lab issues. I have been troubleshooting since day before yesterday with no resolution.
I have my windows 10 vm and fortigate 7.6.3 vm on the vmware station
I am pretty much sure i have the ip configurations correctly

The windows 10 vm is on custom- host only
fortiagate vmnet 2 is also on custom - host only

The vmnet2 on the virtual network editor is also on vmnet 2 with 10.10.10.0/24 network
My port 2 on fortigate is 10.10.10.1 /24
    my NIC on windows 10 is 10.10.10.2 /gateway - 10.10.10.1

    Physical host - 10.10.10.75 /gateway 10.10.10.1

I made sure both fortigate vm and windows 10 vm are on the same vmnet2

However i do not know why i cannot reach fortigate

I just realised that if i change the connection from custom - host only to bridged
it works and i can reach the fortigate

the custom - host only wouldnt

and i am concerned that not having lan network and a wan settings to the internet would prevent me from understanding firewall config

So thanks as i wait the community's responses

Seems its because every "host only" or "nat" network you add to VMware Workstation it automatically adds a nic on this virtual switch to your host machine (your windows or linux host) and assigns the first ip address like 10.10.10.1 to this nic. means that your host already have the ip and there is an IP conflict makes this problem.
