  • 1.  Ports used for DCS installation

    Posted Oct 22, 2015 02:53 AM

We are trying to install DCS 6.5 on a Win 2012 server. The SQL server is a seperate server to have the database installed.  When installing the DCS server on the SQL server it works. However when installing the DCS server on a remote Win 2012 server we have connection problems. We can ping both the IP and hostname of the SQL server and have even stopped the firewall to allow all communication through. What could be the problem? What port settings for the firewall is required for the DCS installation to connect to the SQL 2012 server? Do I really need to stop the firewall as well on the SQL server as this is not best pratice.

    Please help

Another weird thing is when we stop the firewall service on the SQL server the entire server crashes. Will investigate further. Port 1433 should be used, but cannot connect .

Do you have the SQL Browser service running on the SQL box?  That is needed for at least the initial connection when installing.

Yes, We figured out that there was a network connection problem and now awaiting the DB Admin's to restore the SQL server and re-test.
