  • 1.  installation of SEPM database to SQL 2014 - what tools required?

    Posted Nov 23, 2015 06:42 AM

    Hi there,

Has anyone installed SEP 12RU6 on SQL 2014? I know that for previous SQL versions up to 2012, you have to install SQL native and command utils before the SEPM installation will complete. What tools (if any) are required when doing an installation to SQL 2014? I havent had the chance yet to test installation to SQL 2014...

    Thanks in advance.

Accordingly to this offical document SQL 2014 is supported

System Requirements for Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.6

    Database
Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager includes an embedded database. You may also choose to use one of the following versions of Microsoft SQL Server:

    • SQL Server 2005, SP4
    • SQL Server 2008, through SP4
    • SQL Server 2008 R2, through SP3
    • SQL Server 2012, through SP1
    • SQL Server 2014

Note : SQL Server Express Edition is not supported.

You will have to just install the SQL 2014 native client on your SEPM server for the SEPM to communicate with the SQL 2014 DB.

    Hi,

SQL 2014 is supported with SEP 12.1 RU6 version.

If SEPM & SQL are on the same machine then SQL native clients is not required.

If SQL database is at remote machine then you would required SEPM with SQL native client installed.

Personally I don't think you will face any issue with SQL 2014 and SEPM 12.1 RU6 MP3.
