ASDK Comcombine Installation

Hi all,

 

We upgraded our environment from 7.6 to 8.1. I want to upgrade ASDK on the site server. It failed with error message that the installer cannot be used without installation manager. When upgrading to 7.6 I could use skipaim=true or skipaim=1 as parameter for msiexec installation, that doesn't work with the msi for 8.1

 

Can somebody help? How can I install ASDK comcombine on my site server?

Hi,

I opened the ASDK MSI in Orca and the property for "RUNBYAIM OR SKIPAIM" doesn't exist in the 8.0 or 8.1 MSI. I can see this does exist in the 7.6 MSI. 

I've contacted Symantec on this and will let you know the response.

Hi,

Would it be possible to know what the error was from the MSI when you tried installing?

Symantec engineering has said that from 7.6 the skipaim switch is no longer required. I haven't had a chance to test this myself yet.

When I execute the msi, a message is displayed:

"This package must be installed or uninstalled using the Symantec Installation Manager."

The msi transaction exits with error code 1603.

 

In my memory, when we upgraded to 7.6, the skipaim parameter still was required. Maybe not in a later hotfix, but the time we upgraded it still was.

I can install 8.1 without SKIPAIM.

Maybe it is the 7.6 uninstallation that fails without this property during the upgrade?

Try to uninstall 7.6 manually with SKIPAIM=1 then install 8.1?
