SANnav installation /etc

  • 1.  SANnav installation /etc

    Hello,
I have question about the SANnav server requirements. We're little worried regarding separated filesystem for /etc folder. It is generally not recommended to separate /etc. Is it configuration supported by Red Hat? Anyone have any experience?

    Thank you

Agree with concern about the Linux directory location requirements of SANNav.

Installer exits unless there is loads of space in /root and /var/lib. Our standard build and security policy restricts installation of additional software in Linux OS filesystems.

It would be better if SANnav permitted everything to be installed under its own filesystem with minimal softlinks in system directories if absolutely required. This will be a headache for us adopting the tool.

We created a new volume group\logical volume called /opt/sannav and then installed everything to there.

    Run the ./install... from /opt/sannav/Portal..../bin/

When it asked for where the docker install should go we choose /opt/sannav/var/lib

The workaround to install SANnav in its own directory works, many thanks.

Still though - we have this massive 15G swapfile dumped in /(root) directory. So will need a custom OS install to oversize root which is a pain.

    # ls -ld /sannavswapfile

    -rw------- 1 root root 15728640000 Dec 19 12:24 /sannavswapfile

    # du -sh  /sannavswapfile

    15G     /sannavswapfile
