    Hey Ryan,

    How am I supposed to reconfigure the SGMII ports to operate at 1 GB/s speeds? Are there certain registers I'm supposed to write to? If so, what values am I supposed to write/what registers am I supposed to write to?

    Hi Charlie,
    I believe your question is how to configure BCM953162R board 2.5G port to 1G speed, right?
    It's doable by speed change API registers write in RoboOS.
    I am double checking it and will reply you asap.

    Ryan,

    That's correct, that's exactly what we're trying to do. I haven't been able to find good documentation showing how to do this. Section 11 in the 953162R User Guide says the SGMII ports can be configured to operate at 1 Gb/s through a "Command Line Interface", but it doesn't explain HOW to do this. Please provide more information when you can. Section 11 from the User Guide is shown below.

    Hi Charlie,
    There is API for 2.5G port to change speed between 2.5G and 1G.
    Please follow below cint script for the speed configure.
    We are double checking and will update the 953162R-UG doc to add information for this.

        - For 2.5G  

    cbx_port_attribute_set(8,cbxPortAttrSpeed,2500);

    cbx_port_attribute_set(9,cbxPortAttrSpeed,2500); 

    cbx_port_attribute_set(10,cbxPortAttrSpeed,2500);

    cbx_port_attribute_set(11,cbxPortAttrSpeed,2500); 

     

    - For 1G  

    cbx_port_attribute_set(8,cbxPortAttrSpeed,1000);

    cbx_port_attribute_set(9,cbxPortAttrSpeed,1000); 

    cbx_port_attribute_set(10,cbxPortAttrSpeed,1000);

    cbx_port_attribute_set(11,cbxPortAttrSpeed,1000);

    Ryan,

    We believe the board took that command - we did not get any errors when we entered those lines. However, we are still unable to talk to devices directly through the SFP cage on the eval board. We moved the capacitors for one SFP port to position B but still did not have luck. Any advice? FYI we are interested in communicating between devices that directly output SGMII signals into the BCM95362 Switch board.

    Also, we are trying to find a datasheet for the SFP cage that is on this board. The PN listed on the schematic is WS0-ZZ-0041, but this number does not give any accurate search results on Google. Do you have a different part number for this SFP cage?

    Hi Charlie,
        Could you provide the mode of link partner you want to connect? Is 1000BASE-X or SGMII 1G AN?
    The default mode of 162R port be configured as 2500BASE-X and you can use the command that provided by Ryan to change the speed between 1000BASE-X and 2500BASE-X.
    So if you need running SGMII 1G AN mode, it need to apply extra script to enable. Please clarify which mode you need. Thanks!

    We would like to connect to the 4 position SFP cage and run SGMII signals directly into the switch, so we are interested in running SGMII 1G AN mode. Please provide the extra code required to enable these SGMII ports.

    Hi Charlie,
        So you just want to do the loop back connection test for SGMII ports of BCM953162R (for example, connect port 8 to  port 9; connect port 10 to port 11), right? Actually the default 2.5G can link successfully or you can use the speed change command to verofy 1000BASE-X connection, both speed modes can link correctly (you can use "dump_port_status(0);" to check port status in cint) without any extra setting. I have double checked it again and make sure it work normally on my side. So please double check if the CAP rework be done successfully.
