Tech Tip : CA Single Sign-On : When I try to re-install Policy Server I get always a message saying that I already have one at '.'

Question:

We are trying to re-install Policy Server from scratch, and after uninstalling it successfully, and removing all related files and folders, we try to do a fresh installation and the installer is always detecting a previous installation at '.'

What are we missing to remove? Why it is detecting an installation and how we can solve this to do a fresh install?

Environment:

Policy Server R12.7 on Linux

Answer:

First you need to ensure you have removed all files and folders from the installation path used, and any temporary files left. Even if you already rebooted, you may be missing the Zero G installer registry file, which in Linux can be located in different places inside the Policy Server installation path, which you already removed, but also there can be found one file located in /var folder by default:

/var/.com.zerog.registry.xml

Remove this file as well if you wish to re-install from scratch
