Replacing one role with another in bulk on tasks

The mentioned method is particularly useful when, let’s say you want to make the changes to the project template which has a large WBS structure, and a lot of role assignments to tasks.

Access the project’s Task > Assignments page

Using the Assigned To filter option, select the role that needs to be replaced

Select the checkbox on the label section of the list view, and click on Replace

On the corresponding window, select the role that needs to replace the existing one, and click Replace

The existing role will be replaced by the new role on the tasks that were assigned to the old role

I've attached the pdf for the same for reference.

Unfortunately I can't share them

Here's the outline of my process via XOG, you have to go through the project to update the team role.

Retrieve all projects which have resources with team roles not matching primary role
- Retrieve resources and new role which needs to be updated for that project
- Pass into XOG
- Repeat for projects with problem resources

You can also go via a direct SQL write, but do that at your own peril

NJ,

I think Teresa is looking for a way to synchronise changing a resource role with the team project role AND assigned role on the task.

You can do this via a process quite easily

If are understand correctly, you replace role with the resource on the Team tab. If yes, then do you still see the role on the Team tab ?

Is there a way to change the role a resource holds in assigned tasks for a specific project at a higher level ? When a role has been updated we have been changing it in the resource record and the project Team tab for any projects they are working.. But we are finding that doesnt always cascade down thru all the tasks they are assigned to. Any suggestions ?
