How to turn off vMotion and snapshot management

Jan 04, 2019 10:41 AM

Currently in version 3.2, there is a known issue with running the CA Privileged Access Manager clustering feature with VMware vMotion and Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS).

One way to workaround the problem is to turn off vMotion and snapshot management.

To do that, perform the following steps.

1.   At the vSphere Client, login as a user with Administrator privileges.

2.   On the vSphere Client Home page, click Roles.

3.   Click Add Roles.

4.   Enter a name and select the privileges for the new role.

5.   Remove the following privileges.

6.   Click OK to create the new role.

7.   On the Permissions tab of the virtual machine, right click on a user and select Properties.

8.   Assign the new role to the user. Click OK.

9.   In the Changing Permission dialog, click OK.

10. Right click on the virtual machine. Confirm that the Migrate... menu is disabled.

11.  Verify that the snapshot management buttons are now disabled.

AND this is only for the Primary Site Appliances, all Secondary Site appliances are not affected by vMotion and snapshots
