Portal API is the tool that can be used to call portal functions through the Web API.
This API(Portal API - PAPI) can be leveraged by an external system to use the information in the Portal or create a new object on the Portal.
For example, if you want to create your own custom Portal application, you can use this API.
PAPI is protected by OAuth2. By default, Portal provides tenant Admin with Client ID and Secret that can be used to get the Access token.
But when you create a custom app, you may need to only show the data that is only related to the login developer user on the custom app. In such cases, you need to leverage OAuth2 flow to get the Access token that is granted by a developer user who has already been registered on the Portal.
