Apr 29, 2015 02:15 PM

Please find the steps to Migrate MDB on a New Hardware:

Note: This procedure is NOT applicable for MDB Migration from NSM 3.x version to 11.x (e.g. NSM 3.1 to NSM 11.2 SP2 Cum1),

This procedure is applicable for MDB Migration from 11.x old to 11.x new series (e.g. NSM 11.1 to NSM 11.2 SP2 Cum1)

Case 1:

The hostname is SAME on the OLD and NEW Servers

====================================================

If the hostname is same, the task gets easier - ensure:

1) The machines have different IPs on the network

2) New Machine has the Database installed, MDB configured, NSM components installed.

If the above holds good, perform the following steps:

     a) Backup and restore the MDB data from the Old Machine to the New Machine

     b) Once this has been restored successfully remove the Old Machine from the Network

     c) Verify DSMs are connecting to the New Machine MDB

Case 2:

The hostname is DIFFERENT on the OLD and NEW Servers

=========================================================

If the hostname is different, ensure:

1) The machines have different IPs on the Network

2) New machine has the Database installed, MDB configured, NSM components installed.

If the above holds good, perform the following steps:

     a) Backup and restore the MDB data from the old machine to the New Machine

     b) Once this has been restored successfully remove the Old Machine from the Network.

     c) Change the hostname of the New Machine to that of the Old Machine

     d) Follow the hostname change document "HOSTNAME CHANGE FOR R11" for all the NSM components installed

     e) Verify DSMs are connecting to the New Machine MDB
