TECH TIP - Cannot start mysql on CAPC after install

Sep 25, 2014 08:41 AM

How you might see this problem -

/etc/init.d/mysql start
Starting MySQL. ERROR! The server quit without updating PID file (/opt/application/CA/MySql/data/hostname.pid)

Error/Message -

Look to file > mysql logfile: /opt/CA/MySql/data/<hostname>.err.

/CAperfcenter/PC/MySql/bin/mysqld: error while loading shared libraries:
libaio.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

With IM 2.3.x/2.3.1 upgrades MySql to version 5.6.
MySql itself had a change (starting between version 5.5 and 5.5.9) where it now has a dependency on this libaio shared library.

Resolution -

*You should be able to install it using yum.

Add the shared library added to the system and then you should be able to successfully install/upgrade the Performance Center. Starting MySQL should be fine.
