Nov 24, 2015 12:41 PM

from Melissa Potvin to Everyone: Hello and Welcome to Office Hours for APM !

from Melissa Potvin to Everyone: OK, so we have support engineers and presales here ready to answer your questions!

from Melissa Potvin to Everyone: please use the chat feature to ask your question and be sure "send to: Everyone"

from Melissa Potvin to Everyone: who would like to get started with a first question?

from Feng Mei Lu to Everyone: Hi guys. How to dial in? no conference code

from Melissa Potvin to Everyone:@Feng, there is no dial in number. this is a webex chat

from Nik M Jain to Everyone: I received a question from one of our customer resources based in Australia, he is unable to join the session. I did help him with the APM distributed DR, however, he was looking for specialist help for CE APM.

from Nik M Jain to Everyone: The question is how do we managed DR for APM combined with CE APM.

from Nik M Jain to Everyone: DR is disaster recovery

from Tio Bagio to Everyone:  @Nik: CE = Customer Experience?  What's the question?

from Nik M Jain to Everyone:  Cross Enterprise APM - sorry for the Acronyms

from Lynn Williams to Everyone: @Nik, Is this ANZ Bank?

from Nik M Jain to Everyone: @Lynn - That's right! I didnt know they reached out to you mate

from Lynn Williams to Everyone:@Nik, They logged an install related issue which my Sysview colleague took. I'll check the status.

from Nik M Jain to Everyone:@Lynn - Ok thanks for the update

from Melissa Potvin to Everyone: Hi there, thanks for joiningn office hours for APM. We have support engineers and presales here ready to answer your APM questions!  please use the chat feature to ask a question!

from Nik M Jain to Everyone:Another question for the customer resource from ANZ who is unable to join. They are interested in making use of ACC for managing thousands of agents they have deployed in various environments.     What sort of deployment capabilities are going to enabled in ACC for agent deployment? Can you shed some light on this.

from Lynn Williams to Everyone: @Nik, the install related case 00238078 was resolved. Anotehr case 00247033 was opened ask about agent control & some follow-ons. That is still running with my MF colleague Keith Eatock

from Nik M Jain to Everyone: @Lynn - thanks for the update again mate.

from Tio Bagio to Everyone: @Nik: good question.  That's also related to ACC roadmap.  In general we'll have agent packaging capabilities, followed by pushing to final target, may be through APIs.

from Nik M Jain to Everyone: I shared with the customer that ACC has 4 focus areas. Configuration, Deployment, Diagnostics and Health.

from Tio Bagio to Everyone:@Nik: Yes.  Those capabilities will manifest throughout different releases.

from Nik M Jain to Everyone: @Tio - so I am guessing they would add it to the list of api resources that we have. So does that include installation of agent from scratch and upgrade of agents in terms of the deployment features?

from Nik M Jain to Everyone: @Tio - Just an extension to the question. Do you know if there is a plan around integration secured access to ACC via LDAP or EEM?

from Tio Bagio to Everyone:   @Nik:Yes, we plan to have that agent install/upgrade capabilities, including specifying properties that go along with agent artifacts.

from andy to Everyone:    Hi folks .. without reading the doco so far .. for an upgrade from 9.7 - 10.1 in a  is there a recommended order ? eg MOM first ? Will 9.7 collectors and agents communicate with 10.1 ?

from Nik M Jain to Everyone:   @Tio - terrific! Thanks I'd let him know. Cheers.

from Tio Bagio to Everyone:   @Nik: About the security I have to check.  But we do have those in APM already

from Nik M Jain to Everyone:   @Tio - Thanks. No worries. Will be in touch for that.

from Lynn Williams to Everyone:  @Andy, Need to upgrade all EMs at same time. 9.7 agents will conenct to 10.1 EMs ok so can do that later.

from Tio Bagio to Everyone: @Andy: General rule thumb for APM:  agent version is <= (less than or equal) to EM. SO yes older agent can report to 10.1 EM Collector/MoM

from andy to Everyone: Ok thanks so MOM and all collectors would have to be upgraded to 10.1 at the same time?

from Nik M Jain to Everyone:  @Andy - the suggested upgrade order is APM Database, APM EM, APM Agents

from Lynn Williams to Everyone:@Andy, Yes that order is correct

from andy to Everyone: thanks

from Nik M Jain to Everyone: @Andy - I have a guide on upgrade if you need. I can send it across. Very simple to follow.

from andy to Everyone: That would be great cheers Nik

from Nik M Jain to Everyone: @Andy -

from Nik M Jain to Everyone: @Andy - sending across now!

from Nik M Jain to Everyone: @Andy - you are welcome mate.

from Tio Bagio to Everyone:APMDB is normally upgraded when you upgrade the EM. Just make sure you back it up!

from andy to Everyone: More db fun

from Tio Bagio to Everyone:yeah :-)

from Nik M Jain to Everyone:  lol

from omoak02 to Everyone:  I have a question on behalf of a partner in Japan who are not able to attend this session: Are there any customers who are using PHP agent in APJ?

from Nik M Jain to Everyone:    @omoak02 - I know that Insurance Australia Group was planning to deploy the PHP agent on one of their tier 2 app. I am unsure if this has been done. I will check with them and let you know.

from Daniel to Everyone: We have had a number of issues with EEM, just wondering if anyone knows of the updates/improvements on the latest version that matches with APM 10?

from omoak02 to Everyone: @Nik - Thanks!

from Nik M Jain to Everyone:@omoak02 - Welcome mate!

from Lynn Williams to Everyone:@Daniel, This is in relation to your EEM problems on 9.7 with NAB? Thx

from Daniel to Everyone: Yea, just wondering if there are any major improvements to the tool.

from Nik M Jain to Everyone: @Everyone - I am not an MTP expert.

from Nik M Jain to Everyone:  @Everyone - The ANZ CEM deployment is expecting to be asked about enabling Antivirus on the MTP Appliance (in line with ANZ standards). The questions are:

•    Does CA have a recommendation on AV running on the MTP? (I’ll check in the doco)

•    What do other customers do in regards their MTP’s?

from Nik M Jain to Everyone: Any insight on this is highly appreciated.

from Lynn Williams to Everyone:@Nik, That is probably one more for our ADA team. I think Dan might have raised a case. I will just check.

from Tio Bagio to Everyone: @Nik: MTP is CentOS based.

from Lynn Williams to Everyone:  @Daniel,

from Tio Bagio to Everyone:   @Nik:  Virus in general is not commonly found on Linux/CentOs environment.

from Nik M Jain to Everyone: @Tio - Yep I agree to that. So does that mean that we recommend that it is not essential to have an antivirus in the first place.

from Lynn Williams to Everyone: @Daniel, I seem to remember 10.x comes with EEM 12.5 OOTB versus 9.7 having 12.0. I will check further what improvements there might be in 12.5 and get back to after this session.

from Daniel to Everyone: Thanks Lynn.

from Tio Bagio to Everyone: @Nik: I've never had Antivirus issue on MTP, so far it's not a concern.

from Nik M Jain to Everyone: @Tio - Thanks for the update. Will circle back with them on this.

from Nik M Jain to Everyone:  @Everyone - Just as an update, we have enabled monitoring for modern apps like NodeJS, Cloud Foundry and Docker containers. This was displayed at a booth in CA World. If anyone wants to find out  more on this, I'd be happy to guide. You would need this information sooner or later as NodeJs and Dockers have high uptake in the industry.

from Melissa Potvin to Everyone:Any final questions for the team here ?

from Nik M Jain to Everyone:  @Melissa - I am good. thanks.

from Melissa Potvin to Everyone: OK, we are going to close this session just a little bit early since there are no additional questions.

from Melissa Potvin to Everyone:Thank you so much for joining our office hours session. Have a great day!
