Hi There. I have a question regarding the API Explorer certificate set up that is optional while configuring API Portal. Why do we need that additionally to the actual Portal certificate

from Carina Ramello to Everyone:

@sravan, we're getting an answer for you from an expert

from sravan to Everyone:

Thank you!

from Kristen Palazzolo (CA) to Everyone:

@Nishikant Welcome to Office Hours!

from Kristen Palazzolo (CA) to Everyone:

@Nishikant Do you have a question about one of our API-M products?

from Nishikant Singh to Everyone:

Thanks Kristen... just came in to check if there are some question/answers.. yeah well I had a question around swagger support for CA API... but from talking to a few folks it seems that YES there is

from Nishikant Singh to Everyone:

can you confirm that in version 9.X there is swagger support..

from Tyler Band to Everyone:

Live API Creator supports the Swagger 2.0 specification

from Nishikant Singh to Everyone:

thanks Tyler

from Aaron Flint to Everyone:

Hi @Nishikant - yes, there is support for Swagger (both via REST interface, and via the Policy Manager) in the 9.1 release of the Gateway

from Nishikant Singh to Everyone:

excellent thanks Aaron

from Kristen Palazzolo (CA) to Everyone:

I posted the replay from today's webcast, "Accelerating Mobile App Development," in the API Management Community: https://communities.ca.com/videos/4518 - Check it out if you missed it!

from sravan to Everyone:

I know that Portal has its own Database. Do you recommend any maintanence for it separately other than Gateway.

from Kristen Palazzolo (CA) to Everyone:

Next week we're talking about the rold of an API Gateway in a Microservices Architecture: https://communities.ca.com/events/3024

from Kristen Palazzolo (CA) to Everyone:

role* not rold :-/

from Mark Swan to Everyone:

sravan - the Portal databases have no special maintanence requirements

from sravan to Everyone:

Thanks Mark!

from sravan to Everyone:

Metrics will be synchronized every 15mins OOTB setup between Gateway and Portal. Does that mean it metrics will be stored in both Gateway and Portal?

from Dana Crane to Everyone:

yes, metrics are generated on the gateway (and stored there) as well as being pushed to the Portal, where they are also stored

from sravan to Everyone:

Thanks Dana!

from sravan to Everyone:

Can we migrate Gateway v8.1 to Gateway v9.1 directly

from Aaron Flint to Everyone:

Hi @sravan, do you mean upgrade a Gateway from 8.1 to 9.1?  Or are you looking to migrate something from an existing 8.1 Gateway to an existing 9.1 Gateway?

from sravan to Everyone:

OOPS! yes upgrade! Thanks for the response Aaron!

from Dana Crane to Everyone:

@sravan regarding API Explorer: calls from API Explorer are done at the servlet level using the default jdk trust store. But if the target https host's certificate is not signed/trusted by CA, you will need to add the cert before the outbound call can work

from Aaron Flint to Everyone:

@sravan, I believe you can do this upgrade, however there is one thing I'm checking on now.  At some point between 8.0 and 8.2, we were forced to do an out-of-normal-band patch, to allow the Gateway patching system to continue working.

from Aaron Flint to Everyone:

Depending on where that patch was required, you may have to apply that first, and then do the upgrade

from Aaron Flint to Everyone:

However, other than that one out of band patch, the rest of the upgrade process should be seamless from 8.1 to 9.1

from sravan to Everyone:

Thanks Dana and Aaron!

from Aaron Flint to Everyone:

@sravan, confirmed.  there is a patch that needs to be applied to the 8.1 Gateway before any other updates occur, to update the certificate that the Gateway uses to verify patch files

from Aaron Flint to Everyone:

so the process would roughly be:  8.1 -> apply truststore patch -> upgrade to 9.1

from Kristen Palazzolo (CA) to Everyone:

15 minutes left! Get your final questions in now!

from Aaron Flint to Everyone:

also keep in mind, that you would need to apply the OS patch independently of the Gateway, in order to bring the underlying OS up t

from Aaron Flint to Everyone:

o date

from sravan to Everyone:

Sure! Thanks again Aaron!

from Kristen Palazzolo (CA) to Everyone:

Thanks for joining Office Hours! I'll post the Chat Transcript from today's session to the API Management Community: https://communities.ca.com/community/ca-api-management-community
