Release Automation KB: Cannot Create Folder in Parameter Browser Named "Artifacts"

Aug 15, 2014 12:00 PM

Problem

Version 5.0

When trying to create a folder named "Artifacts" in the parameter browser, the following error occurs as found in the nolio_export.log file:

[SwingWorker-pool-1870849530-thread-101] ERROR

(ImportForm.java:325) - Could not import component data [Name]. Unexpected

error occurred.

com.nolio.platform.server.dataservices.api.model.exportimport.model.importdata

.ImportFailureException: Could not import component data [Name].

Unexpected error occurred.

at

com.nolio.platform.server.dataservices.services.exportimport.ExportImportServi

ceImpl.importComponent(ExportImportServiceImpl.java:124)

[.....]

Caused by: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Create folder with this name is

not allowed.

Another error may be encountered as well:

Attribute name can not be one of [Version,File Name,Definition Name,Artifact File].

Cause

As of version 5.0 forward, "Artifacts" is a reserved name in the system, thus a user may not use it when naming a new folder.

Resolution

Always use a folder name other than "Artifacts" when creating a folder via the parameter browser.

Just to clarify, this actually occurs on IMPORT of a 4.71 .DAT file…I think 5.0.1 correctly handles it if you try to create the folder in the UI…..

This is not a bug, but my original wording was misleading to suggest it was. Thanks to Tom's input, I was able to refine the article to clarify the functionality in question.

Hi James,

Thanks for letting us know that this is a problem with 5.0.  However, this is clearly a bug.  Has it already been written up or does that still need to be done?

Thanks,

Tom
