There are a variety of log files that can be of diagnostic use under certain conditions. This document will describe the logs and when they may prove useful.

Gateway node logs

Located in /opt/SecureSpan/Gateway/node/default/var/logs. This directory contains all of the log files managed by the Manage Logs/Audit Sink property. These logs are useful for diagnosing issues with published services, policies, or Gateway runtime errors.

Process Controller logs

Located in /opt/SecureSpan/Controller/var/logs/. These logs provide information on the running state of the API Gateway. This log is useful if the Gateway application is not starting properly

System messages log
Located at /var/log/messages. This log file provides information regarding the Red Hat Enterprise Linux host operating system. Operating system failures, warnings, and errors will be found in this log file.

System boot log

Located at /var/log/dmesg. This log file provides a printing of the most recent boot time logs. This shows information regarding low-level services and processes running on the host operating system.

System commands log

Located at /var/log/bash_commands.log. This log prints out all commands invoked on the Gateway appliance. This covers all users--including user accounts that do not have access to a shell (such as service accounts).

Enterprise Service Manager log

Located in /opt/SecureSpan/EnterpriseManager/var/logs. This log provides runtime logging for ESM. ESM-related failures for trust establishment, migrations, and monitoring external Gateways can be found in this log.

Gateway patching logs

  2. /opt/SecureSpan/Controller/var/log/patch_cli_0_0.log: A low-level log that can be used to diagnose patch-related errors
  3. /opt/SecureSpan/Controller/var/log/patch_verifier_0_0.log: A log that outputs patch verification and trust management messages
  4. /opt/SecureSpan/Controller/var/patches/*.status: A series of log files that indicate the current state of each uploaded and installed patch
