We are on CA espdseries 12.2. I 'inherited' the setup of the CAWA servers and Agent configurations from 11.3 right before we migrated to 12.2 and none of the people who setup 11.3 are around and I cannot find explanations for how Agents (Agent names in topology) and the actual ip address where the agent is installed is counted when running GETTELEMTRYUSAGE.
On our development CAWA server 'ESP_DEV' there are 3 Agent Names (migrated from 11.3) as ex. REPORT_AGENT, REPORT_AGT_A, REPORT_AGT_B all have the same hosting IP address and are Linux servers.
The Agent for this is installed on a single computer/server (ipaddress dummY) 111.11.111.1111
As for the way the previous admin set up the agentparm.txt, it shows as this:
agentname=REPORT_AGENT
communication.alias_1=REPORT_AGT_A
communication.alias_2=REPORT_AGT_B
communication.managerid_1=ESP_DEV
communication.manageraddress_1= (real ip address of cawa scheduling manager)
communication.managerport_1=7507
communication.monitorobject_1=REPORT_AGENT/AGENTMON1.0/MAIN
From what I can find in documentation, this isn't quite right for Agent aliases
Note: in addition to the CAWA Server system Agent ESP_DEV and these 3, we have 2 other agents listed in TOPOLOGY
When running GETTELEMETRYUSAGE, it shows that we used 6 Agents (all the ones in TOPOLOGY including the ESP_DEV).
In my predecessor's documentation for the the physical Agent server 111.11.111.1111 - REPORT_AGENT, they say that this is counted as 1 Agent only since it is on the same server and that the other 2 are just 'aliases'
So bottom line, twofold question. To determine number of Agents being used, is it every one listed in the TOPOLOGY (and therefore the db) regardless of what ip address in which case 6 would be valid for this example? Secondly, is the is the agentparm.txt really set up correctly?
