  • 1.  PAMSC - secons -s not stopping PAMSC

    Posted May 17, 2023 11:16 PM

    Hi all,
A user is using version 14.10.50.61 on Solaris 11.4 SRU52 (kernel version: 11.4.52.132.2). Attempted to stop PAM (secons -s and -sk) but nothing happened. This command does not seem to stop PAMSC.

    Questions:
    - Is there anything wrong with how the command was executed?
    - Since kernel version: 11.4.52.132.2 is not listed in the compatibility matrix, can PAMSC 14.10.50.61 be used on this machine?
    - How to stop PAMSC, if secons -s or -sk does not work?

    Thanks.

    Regards,
    Ain

    Hello Ain,

The certification matrix does matter, it's always good to have the same Kernel build for the OS.

    - Check if you are allowed to run selang?

    - If you are able to run selang, run on the selang prompt (AC>su ), this should give the root user details.
    - You should see that the root user has the Admin, Auditor and Operator
    - Also check the TERMINAL Class

In case you have any other user  that is capable to login and has OPERATOR role, you can login with this user and try to stop PAMSC

The final option would be reboot the server.

    Thanks,
    Reatesh.
