  • 1.  Deleted method of "Purge Session Logs Manually" or "Purge Session Logs Automatically"

    Hi Team,

    <Product>
    CA Privileged Access Manager Appliance 4.1.1

    <Question>
    Please tell me about the deletion method (specification) of the log information of the PAM that can be referred from "go to Sessions, Logs page".

    If the log information is deleted by "Purge Session Logs Manually" or "Purge Session Logs Automatically" on the App appliance, please let me know which of the following methods is used to delete it.

    • Logical deletion (recoverable deletion)
    • Complete deletion (unrecoverable deletion)
    • Or is it encrypted so that even if it is decrypted, the contents cannot be understood?

    Best Regards,

    Hello, it's a complete deletion, i.e. the records will be removed from the database. If you are interested in the logs, you of course would download them from the Sessions > Logs page before doing a manual log purge, and for the automatic log purge you can select to get the logs by email before they are deleted.

    Hi Ralf-san,

    Thank you very much for your quick response.

    Please let me confirm about about "complete deletion".

    Q1. Is it correct to think that "complete deletion" is a process that cannot be restored?
    Q2. Also, when performing "complete deletion", please let me know if this process will rewrite the data with random numbers and make the file contents unintelligible.

    Best Regards,

    Hello, In your first post you asked about whether the deletion method is a "Complete deletion (unrecoverable deletion)", and we confirmed that to be the case. Therefore we confirmed already that this is an unrecoverable deletion, there is nothing to add to that.
