  • 1.  Unable to change web session timeout variable in SDM 12.9

    Posted Oct 22, 2019 09:51 AM
    Hello,

I'm trying to change the web session timeout value from 60 to 30 minutes. This is accomplished by modifying the timeout value to 30 minutes in servername-web1.cfg file on the secondary servers and recycling services.

    https://bit.ly/2mdFEbu

    ----snip----
    # Timeout specifies the maximum number of minutes a user's session can be
    # inactive before it is canceled and all resources released. After this
    # period has elapsed, the user must start a new session by logging in again.

    ! Timeout 60

    ----end snip----

    Change to:

    Timeout 30

The issue is that it's reverting back to the same setting after recycling services. The file is getting modified by the primary server and the change is not being saved.

I read in the URL below about something similar in 12.6, so I'm wanted to know if same issue is found in 12.9 where a patch fix is needed.

    https://bit.ly/2mJjTAw

Here is a snip of the discussion:

    ---snip----
Glad you mentioned the version. (Finally! Someone did!) If on SDM 12.6, then you'll need SDM 12.6 Cumulative Patch 3,
which contains USRD 1844 which fixes a problem with the timeout variable.

    ---end snip---

I would appreciate any help with how to overcome this issue.

    Thanks!

    MJ

Have you made the same changes to the WEB.CFG.TPL file located in the NX_ROOT\BOPCFG\WWW directory on all CA SDM server(s)?

    Thanks Paul,

We have not made any chances recently to that file in production.

    Thanks,

    Joyce.

    Hello Paul,

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I made the same change in WEB.CFG.TPL file and it does retain the change after recycling services. However I did not try running pdm_configure because I didn't think that was required but if you suggest that route I can try it. I'm just a bit concerned about losing some of our our custom configuration changes. We have not run pdm_configure on these servers in more than 2 years.

    Thanks!

The fix you mentioned earlier is included in SDM 12.9 CUM#1.

I am sure that you are aware that SDM 12.9 has been end of support (EOS) for quite awhile now.
