  • 1.  CA EMS probe not starting

    Dear Team

    While upgrading the CA UIM from 8.47 to 9.02 , EMS probe is not starting . 

    Background of the issue - 
    Production setup- This is in HA . We have taken the backup of the  SQL database and imported into the test setup. This UAT environment is been tested first and upgraded first . This is where EMS probe is not starting .  This is the error from the controller log...

    set your controller loglevel to 5 and ems loglevel to 5 and logsize to 35000 to get mode details.
    Usually, the fasted thing to do is just delete ems and make sure the folder is gone from the drive and re-deploy it from the archive.

    Hi Gene, 

    I could not able to delete the EMS folders form the drive as it is it is used by some process. I even stopped the Services but no luck. 
    I could able to delete from the Infrastructure manager but not from the drive. 
    I rebooted the server also but no luck
    I will set the debug and get the results

    If EMS is disabled there should be nothing interacting with that folder from UIM.
    You might need to install something like process explorer to understand what is interacting with the folder.
    That might be the root of your problem.

    Hi

    please delete the folder \Nimsoft\probes\service\ems\db and then deactivate/activate the probe.
