AWI icons for AE objects

I use icons for object types in wikis and other documents to make it easier to identify & distinguish objects at a glance. With the Automic Web Interface, the icons of the various AE object types have changed. For my own benefit, I made a table of the old and new icons. I am sharing it here in case anyone else might find it useful.

I'm curious to see how this online help using the doc.automic.com site is going to work on customer site were the Internet access is prohibited.

Hi Alain,

you have to download the documentation and make it available on any "internal" web server (i.e. on Tomcat whick is used for the AWI). Then change the helpurl in the AWI configuration file configuration.properties.

I added HSTA, JOBQ & XREQ, as well as better versions of the JUI icons for folder and generic job. I also added the missing JOBS sub-types:

• SAP
• Oracle Applications
• PeopleSoft
• OS400
  
• Siebel
• JMX
• VMS
• MPE
• NSK
• BS2000
  
• GCOS8

I believe the list is now complete.

I’ve looked up the X-Request object icon in v12 AWI. Looks like default.png is used. So you may complete the table and get rid of the ?

Thanks, Josef.  I would be glad to put the icon () in place, but I hesitate to edit the original post until the problems with the rich text editor have been resolved. It might end up corrupting the table, as in other posts. Oktavie, any news on this?

 

Update: I went ahead and tried it, relying on the Preview feature to validate the result before saving it. It seems to have worked okay.

Hi Jason,

My apologies for the delayed update on this case. I wanted to give you an update on each item in the list of editor issues you gave us. We had some recent updates related to the TinyMCE editor and I retested each issue to see which ones have been resolved and which ones still need work.

• Pre-formatted text sections get corrupted: This issue still needs to be addressed by our engineers/developers. I'm still able to replicate the issue by going into the HTML source code and placing <b> tags around pre-formatted text. After saving the HTML source code, the pre-formatted section still breaks at the bold text.
• HTML title tag of Library entries and Ideas: This issue is partially fixed. In order to correct it for library entries, you need to edit the Library Entry Title Widget and set two text parameters. ShowLibraryNameAsPageTitle="false" ShowEntryTitleAsPageTitle="True". This will force the title tab to display the name of the entry instead of the name of the community. The Ideation pages don't have a parameter to make this happen, so we've had to submit this as an enhancement request.
• Table Editor: We've also had to submit this as an enhancement request.
• Inserting link on styled text target mistakenly changes text selection: Possibly fixed. I've tested this multiple times but I'm not able to replicate the issue on my end. If possible, could you have the user try this out and confirm if it's still occurring?
• Enabling bulleted list mistakenly changes line formatting: Able to replicate. Inserting bullet drops words after highlighted text to another line. Should put everything on one line instead. It does work correctly if you highlight the whole line and then click on the bullet button. Having Engineering review this again to see if it's a bug or expected functionality at this point.
• Style applied to wrong range of text: Able to replicate. Highlighting multiple rows and attempting to apply pre-formatted to that text causes strange results. I've sent this back to Engineering as well.

I'll keep you up to date as these progress. Typically issues with the editor can take longer to be completely resolved due to their severity compared to other issues. If you have any questions in the meantime, please let me know.

There are some new object icons in the webui-vaadin-framework-theme.jar file included in the AWI v21 package, but they don't seem to be used yet. The object icons displayed in the AWI are the ones in ecc-ae-commons.jar.
